Hi Heather, how are you? I wanted to ask you about something that happened with our pair of female gerbils. They are a year and a half old. They have been together since we got them from the pet center, so we assume they are sisters. They never had any issues. However, today, and quite unexpectedly, one gerbil started attacking and chasing the other in a very violent and aggressive way. I know that aggression can occur when trying to introduce gerbils from different litters, but I’ve never seen this behavior in sisters. Thankfully, we were home when it happened; otherwise, I don’t know what could have occurred. We have now separated them into different tanks. We noticed that one of the gerbils is in heat, but this has happened many times before, and we've never seen them attack each other. What do you think could have caused this? What do you recommend in these cases? Can we reintroduce them? We’re not comfortable knowing that they could attack each other again when no one is home. Thanks in advance Heather! Regards Angie

Hi. We have 8 week old sisters, who have been with us for 2 weeks. we are hand taming which is going well with the confident one and its going slowly with the shy one. We'd like to clean out their bedding in the next week or so but at present we wouldn't be able to lift the shy one out of the cage. Any tips?

Hi forum! I just have a question regarding our new baby gerbil. Last month, one of our gerbils, Mia, passed away :( She was in the enclosure with another 1 year burmese gerbil, Canela. So, to avoid Canela get depressed, we have now a 3 months new red-eyes white gerbil, she is Allie :) We are following the guide for bonding gerbils (Timon-Pumba guide :P ). After 1 and half week with divider, we dont see any agression signs for now. The only thing we notice with small gerbil, is when we put our hand close to the gerbil, she gives it small bites or also pees on it! Is that a good sign or could be dangerous when bonding? They are in heat time now, that's the reason they are back with back :P What do you suggest? Thanks in advance! Regards from Argentina!
